No Bill (不起訴決定)

In legal contexts, a "no bill" (also written as No Bill) is a formal finding by a grand jury that there is insufficient evidence to formally charge a suspect with a crime.
Key Aspects of a "No Bill"
「No Bill」
 * Grand Jury Process: Before a felony case goes to trial, prosecutors often present evidence to a grand jury to determine if there is probable cause to issue an indictment.
 * The Decision: If the grand jury decides there is enough evidence, they issue a True Bill (indictment). If they decide there is not enough evidence, they issue a No Bill.
 * Immediate Result: An indictment is declined, and the suspect is usually released from custody or bail conditions related to that charge.
Important Distinction
 * Not an Acquittal: A "no bill" is not a trial verdict of "not guilty."
 * Double Jeopardy Does Not Apply: Because jeopardy has not attached, prosecutors may resubmit the case to another grand jury if new evidence comes to light in the future.
